Rent it, Don’t Buy it
!

Since 1987 I have been selling professional exercise
equipment to businesses and home users. It has always amazed me how much money
it costs to buy good equipment.
I often asked myself, "Who prices this stuff?" The
point is the retail price is based on the benefit you get, when you use it.
Not the value of the machine itself ! It's based on the money
a business operator can earn by charging customers money to use it. Plain and
simple.
Now that I am over 40 and wiser, I am more careful with my
money. I would rather invest it in 'appreciating assets' than, 'depreciating
assets'. The physical machine that gives the fitness benefit, is not a 'stock'
or piece of real estate. It's just a system of plastic, metal, and
electronics. Why own it? The value is in the benefit it gives off when used.
Owners of 2 year old and ageing fitness machines try to
sell it when they want the better/newer models and they get only pennies on the
dollar. Fitness equipment does not resell like cars or real estate or a Wall
Street stock. So why own it?
Businesses who think they gain an advantage in buying the
fitness equipment they need. Only realize that after 1 year of use they end up
with expensive repair and maintenance bills. Sometimes it costs more money to
fix and repair than it did to buy it! And the interest charges they pay for
financing only make it worse.
